Originally I was concerned about two things -
1) Netra Box boots three times on reboot (as seen in /var/adm/messages)
2) Bunches on "Unable to Install/Attach Driver" messages.
Consensus has it that #2 (the driver issue) is not important - and indeed is
covered in the Sun FAQ (i knew the info was somewhere ...) but that #1 is
probably something in /etc/system or one of the startup scripts (rc?) messing
with the run-level while booting.
Time to start searching in the startup scripts for the problem - again thanks
to everyone who responed!
